What is unresolved conflict really costing you?

  • 0:60 min

The true cost of conflict is rarely just financial.

Of course, there can be legal fees, HR costs, lost business time or practical expense. But what often goes unnoticed is everything happening around it: poor sleep, distracted thinking, strained communication, reduced trust, slower decisions and the emotional drain of carrying something unresolved week after week.

In family situations, that cost may show up in tension around the children, ongoing uncertainty and the exhaustion of never quite feeling settled.

In the workplace, it may show up in reduced morale, poor collaboration, absence or the quiet departure of good people who no longer want to stay in the atmosphere that has developed.

This is why I often say the real question is not simply, “Can I afford to deal with this?” It is, “What is it costing me not to?”

If nothing changes, what will this situation cost in three months’ time? In twelve months’ time? Emotionally, financially and practically?

That question often brings far more clarity than price alone.

Addressing a problem may feel uncomfortable in the short term. But prolonged uncertainty has a cost of its own and it is often far greater than people first realise.
